STUDIO SESSIONS
What is classical Pilates?
Joseph Pilates called his method Contrology, the art of control. Classical Pilates is that original method, taught the way he designed it: a specific set of exercises, done in a deliberate order, starting with the deepest abdominal muscles and building outward from there.
It is a system and order of exercises designed around the principles of strength, stretch, stamina, coordination, control, and breath. With consistency and repetition, change happens.
Every session at Centerwork Pilates is taught by a classically certified Pilates instructor and tailored around the people in front of them. That’s true whether you’re one-on-one or in a room of eight.
Most people begin with a private lesson, where the method is tailored most closely to you. Duets and Trios keep the same close attention for two or three people sharing the apparatus. Our Reformer/Tower sessions (up to six) and Mat sessions (up to eight) are small enough that your teacher still sees and corrects every one of you.
Classical Pilates is a bit like learning a second language. It takes time, and it goes best with someone patient beside you. Plan on practicing twice a week, and you’ll feel the difference within about ten sessions.
Not sure where to begin? Book an initial private lesson below and we’ll point you toward what fits.

New Client Private Session
A private Pilates session is tailored for each individual person.
$150 per session

Duets
A Duet is a wonderful way to move in tandem with a friend or we are delighted to partner you in a way that fits best with another individual aligned with your level. We prefer our students to begin as individual clients so that we may professionally assess each individuals strengths.
$80 per person

Trio Sessions (max 3)
Our smallest group sessions hold just three people on the reformer. It’s the closest thing to a private lesson in a shared room, with plenty of time for your teacher to watch, adjust and guide you.
$70 per person

Reformer / Tower Sessions (max 6)
Our studio is equipped with authentic classical apparatus, handmade by Basil of Pilates Designs. In a Reformer/Tower session, no more than six people share the room, which means your teacher can still see every one of you. You’ll move through the exercises in the order they were designed to be done, and your teacher shapes each one around what your body needs that day.

Mat Sessions (max 8)
Mat work is where the method began, and where many of us, Melissa included, first met Pilates, in dance class. You’ll learn the 34 original exercises, starting where you are. First-timers are welcome, and your teacher will adjust the work as you grow into it.
